The New Idea Store, founded by Jacob Shartenberg, was situated in this 1886 photo in the John Blake ReadBlock at 96 Main Street in Pawtucket Square.
As business grew, Shartenberg moved to 260-270 Main Street at the corner of Park Place
-political, non partisan and non-sectarian. No man was too big or small, too humble or lofty to become a member. The club was famous for marathons, carnivals, block dances, a legion post, boy scouts and for being a polling place. They then built a wooden
